The ILC I at the Anna Ware Jackson School services students in grades 1, 2, and 3 who need intensive services within or out of the general education classroom. Staffing consists of a Special Educator and a varying numbers of paraprofessionals, based on student need. The program is highly structured and offers a multi-sensory approach to reading, written language and math for those who require such. Social Studies and Science are also taught if necessary. The curriculum is aligned to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and is modified to meet the needs of the students. Small group settings provide students with increased opportunities to learn organizational skills for increased independence. Many students in this program receive additional support from one or more specialists.
