Hello and welcome to second grade! I hope you are as excited as I am to learn, grow, and have plenty of fun this year! My name is Allison Dunn and this is my fourth year at the Jackson School. I graduated from UConn with my Masters in Education in 2014. My love of teaching began when I myself was in second grade, playing school with my sisters in our basement. I consider myself lucky to be able to do a job that I love each day. I am proud to be a member of such a cooperative and positive school community here at the Jackson! When I am not teaching, I love to paint, take photos, spend time at the beach, relax with my family, and play with my energetic black lab, Pearl.
I am beyond excited to begin this year. It is my goal that each day my students step into the classroom with a smile. Together, we work as a community to build a safe, caring, and supportive place where we can take risks and get a little messy sometimes!
As the year progresses, I hope that this website will be a helpful tool for you to gather information and stay updated on the work we are doing in second grade. Please use the "Classroom Updates" page to dive into what we learn each month. I will post photos, videos, student work, and tips about our math, reading, and writing standards.
Throughout the year, if you have questions or concerns about your child's academic or social/emotional needs, please know I am available to meet before or after school.
Please e-mail, call, or write a note if you have any questions, concerns, or celebrations to share. I look forward to a positive year with you and your child!
