    The Anna Ware Jackson Elementary School, located in Plainville, MA seeks a principal to join our school community in July, 2025.

    The Jackson School houses approximately 315 students in grades PK-2. This is a full time position with 215 annual working days, and the position will remain open until filled.

    Position Overview:

    The Principal of Anna Ware Jackson Elementary School serves as the instructional and administrative leader, guiding a dedicated team of educators and support staff to achieve the highest standards of learning and development for young learners. This role requires a collaborative, student-centered leader who can strengthen instructional practices, build positive relationships with families and staff, and promote a culture of belongingness, inclusivity, and academic excellence throughout the school community.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Instructional Leadership:

    • Guide curriculum implementation aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for early childhood and elementary education. Work collaboratively with the administrative team and curriculum teams to ensure rich curriculum development and consistent implementation of high quality curricular materials.

    • Support high-quality instruction through teacher evaluation, ongoing professional development, and consistent involvement in curricular decisions in tandem with the district’s educators and the administrative team. 

    • Effectively use data to monitor student progress and drive instructional decisions across all grade levels. Demonstrate a strong understanding of educational assessment data and an ability to support educators in the use of data-driven strategies.

    • Ensure that the school schedule is developed in a manner that allows for the implementation of academic interventions and progress monitoring cycles

    • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff at the Jackson School, and in concert with the Wood School principal, faculty, and staff to fully embrace and contribute to the PK-6 experience

    • Identify productive means of communication with the faculty and staff to ensure clarity, to determine shared goals, and to ensure collective productivity on behalf of students

    School Culture & Climate:

    • Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and respectful school environment where all students feel safe, supported, and valued

    • Lead and coordinate the school’s efforts to support the behavioral, social, and emotional needs for all students, using a multi-tiered system of supports for guidance and participating in the expansion of the school’s commitment to a whole child review process.

    • Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high expectations for all. Contribute to an overall school culture where ongoing personal and professional development are valued.

    Student Support Leadership

    • Lead and motivate staff to view student success through a lens of equity and actively demonstrate culturally-responsive practices, celebrating the diversity of students and families.

    • Analyze related data and work with classroom teachers on the implementation of instructional strategies and practices consistent with that data to result in improved student performance.

    • Provide oversight and support for the implementation of IEPs and 504s, as well as supporting instruction for English language learners by attending meetings as needed, by collaborating regularly with the director of student services, and supporting students, staff, and families of students to address their individual needs.

    Operational & Organizational Leadership:

    • Manage day-to-day school operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and adherence to local and state regulations.

    • Ensure the school operates in compliance with DESE policies, district policies and procedures, and applicable laws

    • Work with district administration and the custodial/maintenance staff in order to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized physical environment conducive to teaching and learning.

    Family and Community Engagement:

    • Foster strong relationships and effective two-way communication with parents, caregivers, and the broader Plainville community

    • Communicate proactively and transparently with families about school programs, expectations, and student progress.

    • Support and collaborate with the Parent-Teacher Organization, the School Council, onsite childcare program, and other community partners in order to promote strong community involvement.

      The ideal candidate will possess:

    • Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and planning skills.
    • Knowledge of early childhood development.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including the ability to prioritize, manage, and organize own workload.
    • Flexible thinking and the ability to creatively solve problems
    • A natural curiosity and a desire to learn and grow as a school leader

    Qualifications:
    Required:

    • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Education, or related field.
    • Massachusetts DESE license as Principal/Assistant Principal (PreK–6).
    • At least 5 years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the elementary or early childhood level.
    • Proven leadership experience in a school setting with a focus on instructional excellence and student growth.
    • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
    • Employment is based on suitability determination (fingerprints) and  CORI background check.

    Salary & Benefits:

    Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, per the Plainville Public Schools administrative compensation schedule. A full benefits package, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid leave are included.
