This is the sixth year I am implementing the "borrowed" idea from Beth Newingham's web page. Each student participates in a weekly classroom job. Each job done is rewarded with a weekly salary. Students have their own banks where they keep their money. On one Friday each month, students have a chance to shop at our classroom store where they may purchase items with their earnings or chose to save up for a larger purchase. However, students may encounter certain fees during the week as well. These include forgetting to write a name on a paper, talking out of turn, or not using time wisely. In addition, students must be able to identify and count their money in order to purchase any desired items. Due to the fact that our store will be held weekly, any items you might like to donate to the store will be appreciated. We welcome any gently used items or any new item under $5. Hopefully this will help students with the tricky concept of identifying and counting change. This is defininitly a first grade favorite and hopefully will be a Kindergarten favorite as well! |
