Preschool students have been busy exploring the world of literacy. The following list of objectives gives a highlight of skills that are taught and explored through preschool. Please keep in mind these objectives are not expected to be demonstrated independently and may require prompting and modeling.
1. Retell a sequence of events from a story
2. Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of text
3. Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables and sounds
4. Recognize own name and/or other environmental print
5. Use a combination of dictation and drawing to express and opinion, share information about a topic, or tell a story
6. Understand and use question words (who, what, where, when, why, how) in conversation as well as in activities throughout the day
7. Understand and use prepositions ( to, from, in,out,on,off, for, ob, by with) in conversations as well as in activities throughout the day
8. Ask and answer questions about the meanings of new words and phrases introduced through books, activities and play
