1^st grade

Tutors are working with students on narrative writing.  We are using a Narrative Summarizing Framework.  We start with an entertaining beginning including elaborate detail.  We tell the children to use vivid words in their description.  First Grade is focusing on the Main Event.  We tell the children to stretch out their thoughts.  These thoughts  are initially written down as blurbs.  Then we talk about ideas on how to finish the writing piece with an extended ending.

2^nd grade

Tutors are working with students on math fact fluency.  We are using many different strategies  to help students become more fluent with their math facts.  We are focusing on Plus 1, Plus 2, Doubles, and Bridge to Ten.  We use many different math games as well as repetition to help them succeed at becoming fluent with their math facts.
