    Keep reviewing the sight words.    

    Here is the link with the Sight Words. You can make the Game Zap with them. (Directions for Zap Game) 

    Make index cards with sight words, write the word ZAP!!!!! on two or three cards, put cards face down in a pile, take turns reading cards, if you read the card you keep it, if you cannot read it you put it back in the pile.   If you get the word ZAP!!!!! put all your cards back in the pile.  Whoever ends up with the most cards wins the game.

    Read the story THE BIG HIT. (attached below) Underline all the digraphs and put a star over the bonus letters.  (Remember any one syllable word that ends in a f, s, l, and sometimes z you double the letter).  Sketch out the picture of what happens 1st, 2nd, and last.

    Download this link, (Add the Bonus Letter).  Look at the words and decide if you need to add a bonus letter.  Remember the rule.!!!!!!!!!!!

    Lesson 10

    Read the passage Mack Bug.  (Underline the digraphs and star the bonus letters).  Read 4 or 5 times with expression.  Do not read it like a ROBOT.......Can you find and circle the 5 suffixes in the story?

    Examples:  The word is shops - the baseword is shop and the suffix is (s)

                                                          underline the baseword and circle the suffix

    Lesson 11

    Play THE b AND d Game  (this game and poem helps lst graders distinguish between the letters b and d)

    Follow the instructions.  Make up cards for the words.  You can use index cards or any kind of paper.  The poem is a good way to remember which way a b goes or which way a d goes.

    Have fun with these games.  Once you make them you can play them anytime, anywhere.

     Lesson 9

    Click here for the Nonsense words.  (Words that do not make sense)  See how fast you can read them.  

    Click the following link for glued sound words and words that have the "L" Blend.  See if you can read them.  Read them slow, fast, in a silly voice, in any voice you want to.

    Glued sound words.   (ang, ank, ing, ink, ong, onk, ung, unk)  Can you box in the glued sounds?

    Click on Zap Game (words with blends, digraphs, glued sounds)   Zap Game Rules - cut up the cards, or make new ones, make two to three cards with the word ZAP!!!, and put in a pile.

    Place the cards facedown.  Take turns reading the cards.  If you read it you get to keep it.  If you cannot read it put it back in the pile.  It you get the card ZAP!!! put all the cards back in the pile.  The player that has the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.

    Challenge -  see if you can spell some of the words.

    Lesson 10

    Read the passage, Thanks, from the Fish.  Why was Liz the Best Pet Mom?  Answer in a complete sentence.  Remember (QPA).  Can I challenge you to find at least 25 words that have either blends, glued sounds or bonus letters.  Mark them up accordingly........

    Lesson 11

    Read the Passage Map Tools.....Can you make a map of your neighborhood or street? (Or just an imaginery land).  Use the key to help you draw out the symbols of your map.  I would love to see the map you drew........
