Read the Story Get the Pets.  Read it 2 or 3 times.  Can you sketch out a picture of what happened in the beginning of the story, the middle, and the end?

Can you find the words that have the suffix (s)?  Write down the words and circle the suffix, and underline the baseword.

    Lesson 13

Practice, practice, practice, reading those sight words..

We are going to go over glued sounds all, an, am.  These are called glued sounds because there are more than one sound, but they are glued very closely together.  So to tap out these glued sounds we use two or three fingers glued together.  For example, tall is tapped /t/ (one tap with index finger), /all/ one tap with three fingers).

                                  all - ball - /ol/

                                  am - ham - /am/

                                  an - fan - /an/

(to mark up these words with glued sounds you box the glued sounds in.  Example in the word (Sam) you would put a box around the am, in the word (can) box in the an, and in the word (tall), box in the all.

Read the following fluency passages:  an passage and the am passage One passage is with the (an) glued sound and the other is with the (am) glued sound.  Make sure you mark up all the words by putting boxes around them.  I bet everytime you read the passages you will read it a little bit faster.......

Magic word glued sounds - an am all words see how many words you can make.  Remember to put a box around the glued sounds.

    Lesson 14

Read The Puppy Story.  Answer the questions and draw the pictures.

Glued Sound Connect Four Game -  object of the game is to get four in a row, diagonally, across, or up and down.  (use a dice and two different color markers). Roll the dice.  Read the word and if you get the word right you color in the square. If you get a six you lose a turn.  Have Fun!!!!!!

I would love to see some of your work.......

    Lesson 13

The following are glued sounds that are considered exceptions because they look like they should be short vowel words, but they are in fact LONG.

    -ild(wild)     -ind(find)   -old(cold)   -ost(post)   -olt(colt)

We mark them up the same way we do the other glued sounds with a box around it.  We tap it out three fingers to thumb.  See if you can read these words.

    -old

    cold - told - old - bold - sold - gold - hold - mold - fold
