Continue reviewing the lst grade sight words. Here are some more to memorize!!!!! You can do it!!!!!!!

Read the story Jill and Bill. I bet you can find many rhyming words. The suffix (ed) is also in this story. Can you find the words with the suffix (ed) ending? Remember we always circle the suffixes when we mark up the words. This is a great story for fluency. Each time you read it, you will be able to read it a little bit faster.

Continue to review old sight words and new sight words........
Review glued sounds. Glued sound pictures may help you also. Read the story Fran Swings. Answer the questions in complete sentences. Remember, capitilize, spacing, understanding, and punctuation should all be included in a sentence.
Can you box in all the glued sounds in the story Fran Swings? If you do not have a printer you could write them down on a piece of paper and box them in.
I challenge you to find 10 glued sound words. Remember - glued sounds are words ending in (ink, ank, unk,onk - ing, ang, ung, ong).

Read the passage Mother's Day Surprise. You are detectives!!!!!!! See if you can answer the questions by highlighting the evidence found in the text with the appropriate color crayon. See if you can answer the questions orally by doing (QPA). question is part of the answer.......
The Blend Bingo Game is a fun way to fluently sound out different blends. If you want to, you could download it and play it at home. See how fast you can read the words in Roll and Read. All you need is a dice. See if you can spell the words.

Read the Story I Collect That. I love this story. Do you have a collection? If so, what is it? If not, what would you want to collect? We will read this story on Wednesday...... I cannot wait to hear what you collect or would want to collect........
Lesson 17
R-Controlled Syllable - (bossy R) - contains a single vowel followed by and r (ar, or, ir, er, ur). We call it bossy R because it bosses the vowel around by controlling the sound of the vowel.
ar - car - /ar/
or - horn - /or/
Er, ir, and ur all make the same sound. Spelling Option - Sometimes more than one spelling makes sense: example: ferst, first, furst. Decide whick looks correct. If you don't know, FIND OUT.....
er - her - /er/
ir - bird - /er/
ur - burn /er/
We mark up the controll R words by circling the ar, or, ir, er, ur in the word.
Read the passage My Scar and First Grade. Circle all the controll R's that you can find......
