This week, we are going to focus on beginning "r" blends, such as tr-, br-, dr-, cr- and pr- 

 Let's introduce our new skill - R blends

1) Click the here to view or print cards with words that begin with an "r" blend.  Practice reading them slowly and listen to your voice as it makes the beginning r blend. Read the cards or cut them out and practice them. See how fast you can learn to read them!

After you read, mark up words with blends, box glued sounds, and star bonus letters.

Let's read a story!

3) Click here to read a silly story called Fran Goes to Prom. You can read it online or print it out. 

As you read this story, think about whether you think it could really happen. Is it realistic? Why or why not?

 Hello, friends! I hope enjoyed last week's story, "Happy Trails".

This week, we will read another passage from Readworks.org called "My Life hasn't Changed". It's a motivational and true story about a girl who is a champion skier but loses her ability to walk after an accident. What do you predict will happen? Do you think she will give up on her dreams of being an athlete? Why or why not?

Please read the story and complete the vocabulary and comprehension questions.
